HMS carabiner with a push-up and twist gate mechanism
The Rock Exotica Pirate Up-Lock carabiner utilizes a push-up and twist gate mechanism, allowing technicians to match gate styles to their existing equipment and gear configurations. As an HMS, or pear-shaped carabiner, the Pirate easily accommodates the use of a wide range of gear, webbing or ropes – either as a belay carabiner at the harness, or as a connector in a system. The Pirate’s robust 0.5″ diameter round frame will endure abuse from dirty ropes and metal connectors far beyond stamped carabiners with thin edges. The Pirate’s durability matched with Rock Exotica’s build quality ensures an impressive service life for the working professional or recreational enthusiast.

UP-LOCK GATE MECHANISM:
The 3-stage Up-Lock carabiner features a PUSH-UP and twist action.
Rock Exotica identified several surfaces where ropes and lanyards can be held up by the edges of the gate and sleeve, which can lead to dangerous cross-loading. The auto-lock gate sleeve is designed with beveled edges to minimize this risk and provide a smoother interior for interaction with the materials connected to the carabiner.
